I've long been captivated by strategies for playing card and board games. You can be nice to other players or you can be mean. You can go for the quick gain or think more long term. Computers make it easy to try out all sorts of different strategies. Computers also make it easy to see what effects different restrictions have on those strategies: What if you could only see your local bit of the board, rather than the whole thing? What if you couldn't see what the other players are doing?
It would be fascinating, I think, to create a website for this sort of thing. Put up all sorts of card and board games, everything from War to Poker to Cribbage, Parcheesi to Sorry to Candy Land. Have variants of each game where the rules about what you can see and do vary. Let people upload custom strategies for playing the games. It could be a competition, with prizes for the strategies that win the most and for the strategies that win the fastest.
Would it be possible to build a strategy that would work for multiple games within a genre? For games across genres? Enquiring minds want to know!
