Write a story about a town built on a near sheer cliff, like Jerome, Arizona, except even more vertical. Going down would be fun, getting back up maybe not so much. Imagine if the rich snob on the top purchases a grand piano! And then he had his house built by the lowest builder and so it detaches and falls through the levels below him.
