Hospitals and nursing homes often have pet therapy programs, where volunteers bring their dogs and other animals to visit the patients. These programs have been documented to help people recover faster and give them something to look forward to, among other benefits.
People at work need this love and attention too, and I'll bet would respond to pet therapy in a very positive fashion. Sure businesses often have "no pets allowed" rules, but surely they would make an exception for pet therapy pets, just like hospitals do.
